| The Basics |
Character Name: Bill Weasley PB: Unidentified model Age: 29 years old Birthday: November 29th, 1970 Wand: Ash, 11 inches, dragon heartstring House in School: Gryffindor Bloodline: Pureblood Political View: Bill staunchly sits and fights on the side of the Order. He’s always been a firm believer in equal rights for all magical beings (mostly because he worked side by side with goblins) and since being attacked he’s become very passionate about the mistreatment of werewolves. |
| Appearance |
Height: 6’ Weight: 160lbs Eyes: Blue. Hair: Red, kept long and shaggy, usually pulled back in a ponytail. Build: Very slim and tall. There’s not much muscle on Bill at all. Dress Style: Bill tends to dress as though he were a 70s rock star. His shirts are always decorated with the slogan of some up and coming band, his hair hasn’t been cut since he left The Burrow and he always wears a pair of dragon hide boots on his feet. His entire style tends to perplex his mother but Bill always sticks to his guns, he likes looking like a muggle. Defining Marks: Apart from the trademark Weasley hair and freckles –both of which can be spotted a mile off- Bill tends to make heads turn due to his taste in fashion. His earring and leather pants have always gained him attention and made him stand out slightly more than the rest of his family. However now it’s the horrible scars on his face which are most notable and tend to be the thing most people notice when they meet him. |
| Personality |
It has often been said that Bill Weasley possesses an easy-going, laidback kind of charm and if asked he would probably have to agree. Despite growing up in a rather eccentric household he’s never allowed himself to become neurotic or stressed, instead taking just about everything and anything in his stride. He’s the kind of man who makes an excellent confidante, never judging anybody and always doing his best to offer up advice. It’s this particular aspect of his personality –the caring, perceptive side- which probably led to his becoming Head Boy at Hogwarts. Bill’s cared for his siblings his entire life and he has no problem adding on a few more, or hundred, people to that list. This does not mean however that Bill is willing to take any nonsense. Whilst it takes a lot for him to lose his temper –and some have even questioned its existence at all- he can erupt spectacularly if pushed too far. The worst tempers are after all the ones that lie dormant for so long and when provoked it is best not be within his line of sight. In the same vein Bill has very little tolerance for prejudice or the people who demonstrate it and can’t stand to be around them. He thinks it’s ridiculous that some wizarding families still believe in the old ways and think that muggle-borns are any less talented that purebloods when actually there’s no basis for fact on the matter. Despite being a pureblood himself Bill’s had to put up his whole life with people sneering and looking down their noses at his family and whilst he’d like to rise above it, insulting his family is the one big no-no. It’s pretty much guaranteed that he’ll roll his sleeves up and either hex you stupid or break your face if you utter a bad word about his loved ones. Bill has always been very supportive of equal rights for all magical creatures as working side-by-side goblins every day will do that to a man. Over the years he’s become swayed by their opinions and after meeting Remus Lupin, a known werewolf, his mind was firmly made up. Bill couldn’t see what good the restrictions that the Ministry was enforcing upon “lesser beings” would do, other than to make them completely resentful of the wizarding community. It of course became far more personal when, having been left savaged by a werewolf, Bill realized that he had a very lucky escape. Since then he’s become far more vocal about the inequalities and has sent the Ministry a number of angry letters –he likes to think they’ll do some good. Since being left scarred for life and robbed of his looks, Bill isn’t quite as confident as he once was. Before the accident he had no trouble being in the spotlight or picking up girls (not that he’d want to with Fleur around) whereas now he thinks the first thing people see when they look at him is his scars. This is probably true despite everyone’s protests that it isn’t and Bill’s well aware that everyone is denying it just to make him feel better. As a result he’s prone to terrible periods of wallowing in his own self-pity and blaming himself for Gabrielle’s death. |
| Psychology |
Extrovert/Introvert: Growing up in a family as big as the Weasley’s it would be impossible to get any attention if you weren’t an extrovert. Whilst Bill is by no means the type of person to walk into a room and pull a stunt just to have everybody look at him, he does enjoy conversing with large groups of people and prefers company to being alone. Boggart Would Be: Since being attacked by Fenrir Greyback Bill has become extremely paranoid that the man will return to finish him off. This fear only intensified when the news of the subsequent murder of his young sister-in-law reached the Weasleys and it has led him to worry a great deal about the safety of his wife and family. This change has of course been reflected by the form his Boggart takes and now it is a figure of Fleur’s body, broken and bloodied, apparently having been savaged by some wild beast. Namely, himself. Patronus: Bill’s Patronus takes the shape of a lion. Not only is it on the Gryffindor house crest at Hogwarts –of which he was Head Boy- but lions also represent courage, leadership and family. As the eldest child Bill has always felt it is his duty to care for his siblings and his Patronus reflects this. |
| Sexuality |
Heterosexual. Like most boys Bill went through a period in his early teens where he thought he might be gay, it didn’t take long for him to realize however that his harmless crush on Evan Corner (a 7th year chaser for Ravenclaw) was nothing more than intense hero worship. After fifth year Bill only had eyes for the girls, a fact he realized when during Transfiguration a pretty Hufflepuff smiled at him and his insides subsequently turned to jelly. Though by no means a ladies’ man, Bill has certainly had his fair share of flings over the years. Currently he is married to Fleur Delacour and has no plans to stray, he considers himself a very lucky man. |
| Lifestyle |
Occupation: Desk job for Gringotts’ London branch. Previously a curse-breaker in Egypt. Residence: A cottage near The Burrow in Ottery St.Catchpole Financial Status: Reasonable. |
| Family |
Parents: Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley (nee Prewett) Siblings: Charlie Weasley, Percy Weasley (deceased), Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley For two wonderful years Bill was the apple of his father’s eye and his mother’s one saving grace from a life as a soldier. He had all the toys he ever wanted, was completely doted upon by both his parents and then his little brother Charlie was born. He was then followed three years later by Percy and by the time Bill was seven he had four younger siblings stealing his parents’ attention and getting their grubby hands on all of his things. Whilst some children might have become resentful of their growing family Bill was the complete opposite, he relished the role of big brother and often helped his mother out around the house. By the time Ginny arrived on the scene he was quite adept at changing nappies, dishing out bottles, putting babies to bed and cooking dinner. |
| History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time |
The first Weasley child to go to Hogwarts, Bill was sorted into the Gryffindor house only a mere three seconds after the Sorting Hat had touched his head. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone, least of all himself, as the Weasleys had long standing ties with Gryffindor and both his parents and uncles had themselves been sorted into it. At Hogwarts Bill had the first opportunity in a very long time to simply enjoy being alone and to do things without a multitude of siblings trailing along after him. It was here that he truly found his niche, showing early on that he had a surprising aptitude for Ancient Runes and Potions. Whilst he enjoyed Quidditch and followed the sport as passionately as most wizarding children, it was his younger brother Charlie who made the school team and Bill couldn’t have been prouder. In his fifth year at school Bill was awarded the badge of Prefect and, although remarkably surprised at the honor, soon proved to be a very valuable commodity for the school. Bill had a knack for rearing in unruly students without making enemies of them and he became quite a popular student, always surrounded by a large group of friends and with a different girl to take to Hogsmeade every trip. When he received the news that he was to be Head Boy Molly just about died of happiness and Bill –slightly embarrassed by all the fuss- brushed it off completely. He claimed that it had been slim pickings that year and Dumbledore had clearly picked him at random. Upon graduation Bill had only one profession in mind and was absolutely determined to make it as a curse-breaker. He faced a lot of stiff competition and even some prejudice along the way –goblins preferred to hire their own kind- but eventually he managed to convince his employers that he was both trustworthy and capable. Within weeks of being hired Bill was sent abroad to Egypt and stayed there working on decoding the pyramids until news of Voldemort’s return reached him. He immediately put in for a transfer and was given a desk job in London, quite the change from spending every day out in the sun. The transition was a hard one and it was clear to everyone around him that Bill hated the turn his career had taken but he stuck it out regardless, knowing full well that everyone else was making sacrifices. He was initiated into The Order of the Phoenix by Dumbledore and asked to keep an eye on the goblins and who they might give their allegiance to. During The Battle of the Tower at Hogwarts Bill was set upon by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback and viscously mauled by the man. Despite it not being a full moon Fenrir still managed to do enough damage to Bill that he ended up in hospital for a number of weeks until his wounds finally healed. Although the damage was by this time mainly superficial, it was clear he would never again be the same good looking man he had been. The blow was a painful one but made somewhat easier thanks to his fiancé, Fleur Delacour, claiming she would stand by him. Bill had met Fleur during the Triwizard Tournament and like most men had been quite taken by her beauty and the way she handled herself in the tasks. When it emerged she had applied for a job at Gringotts Bill approached the young woman and offered to show her around the bank and London itself. The pair fell into an easy camaraderie that soon developed into a relationship and, before he even knew it, Bill had proposed and Fleur had accepted. The wedding took place the July following Dumbledore’s death and although perhaps a more somber occasion than it should have been, it still brought smiles to a few people’s faces. Unfortunately the newlyweds weren’t given much time to adjust to their new roles as the threat of the war continued to grow and they were thrown into the thick of it. At the same time Bill was trying to cope with Greyback’s attempts to turn him and in yet another effort to force the wizard over to his side, the werewolf callously murdered Gabrielle Delacour. Bill was devastated by the young girl’s death and wracked with guilt over the entire incident, barely able to look his wife in the eye for weeks. He watched anxiously as Fleur threw herself into the war effort and in the aftermath of the final battle he finally breathed a sigh of relief. Now, it seemed, life could go back to normal. With the second war now over and his personal life in tatters, Bill is trying to adjust to being normal again and fulfilling his role as a husband. He’s still mourning the loss of both his sister-in-law and brother Percy but is determined to appear strong for the rest of the family. |
